  A word of caution

  please forgive me if you consider this to be presumptuous, i know i am an ultra-newbie here.

  but, i see a lot of threads on jwn that read something like, "what is your dog's name" or "where's your favorite vacation spot", "what's your special name for your spouse", etc.

  i give the opening posters of these threads the benefit of the doubt that they are creating them simply for entertainment purposes.

  It's rare, but it happens. Over the years I've heard of a few people being outed, usually by a fellow poster who knew the other's identity.

  Posters who are targeted by the WT are usually those who are very articulate and provide evidence of and make compelling arguments about the falsity of WT doctrine. I don't think the WT cares about what people name their dogs.

  To be on the safe side, limit how much personal information you reveal. Throw in a minor misdirection now and then. Claim a sister you don't have. Say you live in another state or country. Say you named your dog "Kitty." That makes it nearly impossible to track you down through personal details.

  seriously, i don't own a zambonee, swimming pool, basketball courts, tennis courts, work out gym, vollyball sand pit, horse shoe pit, orchards, sauna, maple syrup/apple cider processing room and now a golf course.

  Of course the WTS should practice what it preaches, but like all human organizations throughout history that have presumed to tell others how to live, those at the top live exactly as they like on the money their dupes supply.

  i visit this site often for various reasons, above all to see the opinions of those in regards to their present state in life in relation to past or present tendencies in thinking (religious, morals, etc).. i had not found anything constructive or worthy of adding to this conversation but for one reason or another here i am doing so now.

  i am presently an active jw member.

  i believe that our faith provides a haven or parameters from which members can significantly obtain structure and order in many different ways.

  Monsieur: I believe that our faith provides a ‘haven’ or ‘parameters’ from which members can significantly obtain structure and order in many different ways. This is the case for those members that consider themselves ‘spiritually’ motivated and that are wholeheartedly seeking a spiritual ‘truth’. I know hundreds of people that fit this description and are genuinely happy with their current ‘state’ in life (with all their experiences past and present and expectations).

  Those who find comfort in "structure and order" are like birds in a cage. They're told what to say, do, and think. This is not a "haven"; it's a prison, and those who willingly abide there have abdicated their responsibility to grow up, think for themselves, and live fully as adult human beings. Even so, I would say fine for them if that's what they choose to do, except for the children. To force a child to live a dub childhood is a crime. I know; I lived it, as have many on this forum. It's a horrible experience. You're starting to see the bars of your prison and wondering what's outside. Don't be afraid. If some of the comments here seem crude and angry, welcome to the real world, Neo. Not everything is sunshine and roses. But that's what freedom is, both the good and bad.

  Name of suspect: David, King

  Offenses committed: Murder, 1st degree; Conspiracy to commit murder

  Victim: Uriah (no surname)

  Details of crime: Suspect observed victim's wife bathing, whereupon he decided to eliminate victim in order to marry victim's wife. Suspect accomplished this by influencing victim's military status, such that victim stood a much higher chance of being killed in action, which is what occurred. Suspect was apprehended after a long investigation. Suspect was released on his own recognizance, pending initial court hearing.

  i feel cheated that never, not once, as a dub or as a ex-dub, did i experience the presence, manifestation, or just-things-flying-around, of demons.

  not so much as a teacup levitating from its saucer.

  no inexplicable cold spots.

  Mary: Witnesses are taught that there's a freaking demon in anything and everything, just waiting to trip you up ...

  That's the presumption underlying the invitation of demons into my home. Dubs claim they're everywhere, just itching for the chance to make someone's life a living hell. That's why I'm not seeking out mediums, haunted houses, or other supposed venues to the supposed underworld. My open invitation alone should be like a dream-come-true for them, if dubs are to be believed.

  Some posters on this thread are claiming that a pure and absolute belief in demons is a necessary prerequisite to having them pay one a visit. But why would that be needed? If the essence of demons is evil, it stands to reason that an open invitation to them must be irresistable, whether you believe in them or not.

  I should be their most favorite person in the whole wide world.

  Is DISMISSING others a really really BAD habit?

  if the facts are on our side we simply present those facts and allow the evidence to speak for itself.. however, if we are short on facts--what then?.

  more and more i detect a trend among those who publicly disagree: they simply dismiss others without resorting to facts.. one's opponent in an opinion war is labeled as "unworthy" of being listened to.

  dismissed, shunned, shut down and waved away!.

  Certainly it is lazy.

  For the dubs, it's an absolutely essential tactic to prevent common sense and reason from waking up other dubs that may not be completely braindead. They use this tactic in order to survive as a cult.

  As for the posters on this site, yes it's lazy not to support one's position, assuming that there is solid evidence available to support it.

  I live an hour away from Baltimore and I'm a rabid Orioles fan. I would be a rabid Ravens fan too were it not for the sociopath Lewis and his influence on the rest of the team. You may (or may not) have caught the commentator's comment that this season the Ravens commited more personal fouls than any other team in the NFL.

  Lewis is a thug who literally got away with murder. I can't support a team like that. And it's not sour grapes talking. I love everything about Baltimore except the Ravens.
